Recently, a big decision was taken by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC). It is about restrictions and banning Huawei and ZTE. Probably the decision has made based on unhealthy relations with the Chinese government.
Certainly, the decision could be a result of conflict between the US government and Chinese tech companies. This become more prominent after Trump’s presidency while TikTok was one of the first victims. Subsequently, other companies like Huawei and ZTE were blacklisted. Also, the tech equipment made by these companies is banned to enter US and UK boundaries.
As per the news coming from Reuters, Jessica Rosenworcel, chairwoman of the FCC, has imposed a new ban on Huawei and ZTE. And the bill is in the final stage of approval.
Rosenworcel says that FCC is committed to protecting the US national security. Also, they want to ensure that – “Untrustworthy communications equipment is not authorized for use within our borders, and we are continuing that work here.”
Earlier in 2018, five Chinese companies including Huawei, ZTE, Hytera Communications Corp, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co, and Zhejiang Dahua Technology got banned in the US as they found a threat to US national security.
Later to this, PacNet/ComNet and China Unicom are also added to the list. In addition to this, in June 2021, FCC alerted authorities for not issuing approvals for the equipment supplies by blacklisted companies.
