Gartner: Huawei sold 54.12 million units in Q2 2020, with a market share of 18.4%, a YOY decrease of 6.8%

According to the latest report of Gartner, Global smartphone sales fell by 20.4% in the second quarter of 2020, totaling 295 million units. Samsung and Huawei moved into a virtual tie for the top spot as Huawei ended up selling 54 million units in the June quarter.

Huawei declined in smartphone sales year-over-year, it experienced 27.4 percent growth, quarter-over-quarter.  Samsung’s mobile phone sales were 54.759 million units, with a market share of 18.6%, and suffered the largest sales decline-a year-on-year decline of 27.1%.

Huawei’s mobile phone sales were 54.12 million units, with a market share of 18.4%, a year-on-year decrease of 6.8%, and a month-on-month sales growth of 27.4%. Apple’s smartphones ranked third, with Q2 sales of 38,386,100 units, which was basically the same as last year. The market share was 13.0%, down 0.4% year-on-year.

“The improved situation in China saw demand recovering quarter-over-quarter. Travel restrictions, retail closures and more prudent spending on nonessential products during the pandemic led to the second consecutive quarterly decline in smartphone sales this year,” said Anshul Gupta, senior research director at Gartner.

“Demand for its flagship S Series smartphones did little to revive its smartphone sales globally,” Gupta said.
