Huawei and China Mobile together deliver world’s highest 5G
According to Huawei Press release on April 30, 2020. Huawei and China Mobile have jointly taken 5G connectivity to a new height by bringing the network to the summit of Mount Everest upon the completion of the establishment of the world’s highest 5G base station at an altitude of 6,500 meters above sea level in the Chinese side of the mountain.
“The 5G network on Mount Everest will provide communication services for this 2020 Mount Everest re-measurement which is of great significance,” said Huawei.
Huawei has offered its end-to-end solutions in the construction of China Mobile’s Everest dual Gigabit network, where base stations were built in Mount Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5,300 meters, the transition camp at 5,800 meters, and the forward camp at 6,500 meters. Huawei’s 5G AAU and SPN technologies are applied at these base stations, where network maintenance and optimization are done by a dozen network specialists who are stationed 24/7 in regions at altitudes of 5,300 meters and above to ensure smooth network operations.
As per Huawei, the 5G AAU is highly integrated in a compact size, making it easy for deployment and installation.
It fits particularly well for infrastructure in extreme environments such as Mount Everest. In this project, a network in the ‘stand-alone plus non-stand alone’ (SA+NSA) mode connects five 5G base stations.
The 5G fast and huge-capacity connectivity is achieved by Huawei’s Massive MIMO technology supporting lightning speed and large bandwidth.
With its highly flexible three-dimensional narrow beams, the technology works particularly well vertically in Mount Everest. At an altitude of 5,300 meters, the 5G download speed exceeded 1.66 Gbps, where the upload speed tops 215 Mbps.
Meanwhile, quality and undisrupted networks are guaranteed by Huawei’s Intelligent OptiX Network solutions, with a transfer of high-res videos, VR live broadcast, supported by enterprise gateways with 1Gbps upstream/downstream connections.
The Everest base camp at 5,300 meters is fully covered at a logged speed of 1.43Gbps, thanks to the Gigabit ONT. Huawei’s 10G PON OLT and 200G ultra-high-speed transmission platforms can intelligently manage data throughput, making it possible for families and businesses to enjoy super-fast internet access at such high regions, the statement adds.

Huawei Sound X4 smart speaker is now available on Huawei Mall
Huawei Sound X4 smart speaker was launched on Huawei Mall, and full pre-sale started on the same day, and the first sale of the new product started at 20:00 on October 31.
The smart speaker is available in two colors: Rhythmic Black and Dynamic White, priced at 2199 yuan and 2599 yuan respectively.
The speaker contains eight units, including 1 woofer, 4 mid-range speakers, 1 tweeter and 2 passive radiators . Officials said that the high, medium and low frequency units work within their respective frequency response ranges, giving full play to the advantages of each unit. A HUAWEI Sound X4 can bring “symphony orchestra-like” sound effects.
The speaker has obtained Hi-Res high-definition sound quality certification, which can provide more sound details and also perceive the spatial sense of the sound. Its subwoofer has a power of 50W and is also equipped with 2 passive radiators. The low frequency dives to 36Hz and has a 25mm stroke.
In addition, its high-frequency unit has a power of 3W and the mid-frequency unit has a power of 5W, and they use pure titanium diaphragm and self-developed mica fiber diaphragm respectively.
The speaker is equipped with Huawei SOUND bass enhancement algorithm, which can actively control the vibration of the speaker, reduce distortion, improve the transient response of low frequency, and achieve deep and powerful low frequency performance. It adopts Sym-Pole mirror design to offset vibration noise and bring rich bass.
In addition, it supports control methods such as one-touch, one-cover, and two-tap, which can respectively complete operations such as lighting, muting, and turning off the lights. The speaker also supports intelligent recognition of spatial structure, emitting sound waves to detect the room structure and receiving feedback, and can automatically match the sound effect scheme in the spatial scene.
