Huawei’s upcoming P50 Pro+ handset may include a camera with a liquid lens. As its name implies, the lens typically includes a layer of liquid, and the lens’s focus and focal length are changed by applying an electrical voltage.
Liquid lenses have been around for a number of years, but they’re typically found in industrial applications where traditional lenses with moving mechanical parts might wear out too quickly. But their compact size and versatility make them an appealing prospect for smartphones. In theory, one camera with a liquid lens could combine several of the cameras that are found on the backs of most flagship smartphones.
At present, Xiaomi MIX FOLD is also the only model in the industry that uses this technology, but the chain is said to continue and next model may be Huawei P50 Pro+.
According to a well-known Weibo tipster, Digital Chat Station, Huawei’s liquid lens has been tested for a long time. At present, most of the supporting solutions on the industry chain are medium and long focal lengths, and the intermediate focal lengths are also not bad.”
Huawei P50 will use a 6.3-inch flat screen, a center single-hole front lens; the whole phone is about 156.7 x 74 x 8.3 mm (with the upper camera raised, it is 10.6 mm), so the P50 body is larger than P40 (P40 body size is 148.9 x 71.06 x 8.5 mm).
A larger image sensor can capture more light, so it can better take high-quality photos, especially in poor light conditions that require high ISO settings. The Sony IMX800 is expected to be launched in April. Huawei P50 Pro may launch the 1-inch image sensor Sony IMX800 for the first time.
As per the last information, the Huawei P50 series will use the top center-punch-hole screen, and the screen curvature is not very large. The rear camera module adopts a round shape similar to Huawei’s nova 8 series.
In terms of configuration, Huawei P50 series will be equipped with the latest Kirin 9000L/9000E/9000 processors. The camera is the biggest highlight of the phone, not only will be equipped with a liquid lens but also is expected to debut Sony’s largest-ever mobile phone CMOS sensor IMX800.
In terms of battery, the phone will have a built-in 4200-4300mAh capacity battery, supporting 66W wired fast charging and 55W wireless fast charging.
