Huawei patents new smartphone with Virtual buttons and Under-Display camera

Huawei’s plan is working well with the new smartphone launches and patents, the company has added another patent in the list for the future smartphone, this new patent features an under-display camera and virtual buttons on the side.

According to LetsGoDigital, the new patent was filed with the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) back in November 2019, which was finally granted on June 16, 2020.

At the same time, the patent is also included in the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) database. Included are 14 images showing two phone models, which differ only slightly.

At the front, there is no pop-up or notch camera visible, this new smartphone is a full-screen Huawei phone with narrow screen edges, which indicates this phone to have an under-screen selfie camera.

However, the side of this device is special. No physical buttons are visible. Instead, the display continues to run, exactly where the power button and volume buttons are normally located. It seems to be an alternative to the expensive Quad-Curve Overflow display with Side Touch technology, which we know from the high-end Huawei P40 series.

At the rear we see a camera system with three circles. This can be a triple camera, similar to the P Smart Pro – where the flash is placed under the triple camera. However, it can also be ruled out that we are looking at a dual camera with an LED flash – similar to the configuration of the Huawei P Smart 2020. Furthermore, the bottom offers space for a USB-C connection.

Additionally, there are also rumors that the Huawei Mate 40 expected later this year will be the first device with an under-screen camera. Normally, the high-end Mate smartphones are expected around October.
