Huawei releases Harmony Intelligence powered with AI capabilities

At the Huawei Developer Conference 2024, Huawei unveiled Harmony Intelligence, the core AI of the HarmonyOS ecosystem. HarmonyOS NEXT now integrates AI capabilities directly into the system, featuring AIGC (Artificial Intelligence Generated Content) functions like hand-drawn line drawings, coloring, graffiti, and photo enlargement. Additionally, it includes the industry’s first AI sound repair function, designed to help individuals with speech disorders communicate, set to launch by the end of the year.

HarmonyOS NEXT also introduces “Xiaoyi Sees the World,” a feature aiding visually impaired users by “reading” pictures aloud. This functionality can describe the contents of a refrigerator, including the types, placement, and freshness of vegetables.

With Harmony Intelligence’s “AI-based controls,” third-party apps can utilize system capabilities for real-time reading, smart form filling, image and text translation, and subject cutout.

The “Xiaoyi Smart Assistant” has been upgraded to “Xiaoyi Intelligent Agent” powered by the Pangu Big Model 5.0. Users can now summon Xiaoyi without needing a wake-up command, simply by dragging and dropping content on the navigation bar. For instance, feeding a picture to Xiaoyi can instantly generate a chart, while feeding a document can produce a summary or Q&A.

This comprehensive AI integration positions HarmonyOS NEXT as a cutting-edge platform, enhancing accessibility and productivity through innovative AI features.
